Course Memo

Clinical practicum is used throughout the course to acquaint the student with the clinical environment as well as the radiographic equipment and procedures performed in that environment. The student will perform radiographic procedures during all phases of clinical practicum. At first, the student will observe and assist the technologist during the procedure under direct supervisor. As the student gains confidence with the procedure they will work towards completing clinical competency of that exam. Once competency has been achieved, the student may work under indirect supervision. Clinical supervision guidelines are more specifically outlined in the student handbook. During RAD 130, students will demonstrate clinical competency on 6 competency exams. Suggested competency completion includes: chest (routine adult), abdomen supine, finger/thumb, hand, wrist and 1 additional elective competencies.
